Bento #17: Castle-mania?

Another try at a medieval themed bento, this time a castle. I don't think I succeeded with my vision but I'll do better next time. The castle is a Wow butter sandwich with broccoli bushes growing around it. I used the food picks to make the residents of the castle. I even made a princess hat for the little monkey food pick. Cheese flowers with carrot centers and a carrot drawbridge.  Cauliflower clouds and a flower pasta sun, a hardboiled egg princess bunny and some frosted cornflakes (by request) with more pasta flowers.

You're probably thinking that the lunches look pretty much the same because I use so much broccoli and carrots and not really much of other veggies, I think so too.  Blame the Kiddo, she's limiting my veggie choices. LOL.  Seriously though, my Kiddo is rather picky in her food choices and just to make sure she eats veggies, I have to pretty much stick to these staples.  I've tried introducing different ones but those just get the "Ewww, what is that Mommy?" treatment.  She hasn't even tasted it yet and I get the "I don't eat that Mommy" attitude.  Do you know how long it took me to get her to eat broccoli?! I tried snap peas, various forms of lettuce, beans, peas, corn (she will eat this in mixed veggies but never on the cob *shakes head*), mushrooms, cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini, no go.  She will eat a little to try but then it just ends up on the side of her tray and meals end up being an exercise in frustration.  Still is most days.  So I learned to go with what works, hoping that when she's older, she'll try more.  Hey, I never ate mushrooms until highschool because I always thought they were yucky.  Now I can't get enough of them.  Same goes for shrimp till I found out I'm allergic to the frozen stuff (long story).  So I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  oh and she's the same with fruits, won't eat bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and would only eat 2 pcs of grapes and a small amount of raisins, one slice of orange.  She hates blue berries with a passion, I don't know why and yes, I tried putting it all in smoothies and hiding it in baked goods but nope, she just won't. She will eat an apple though, with peanut butter. that's about it.  So apple it is when we have them. Some day...
